Ok so I made a sump out of a 55g tank that has been sitting litterally for years in someone's garage. They didn't remember anything about the tank other then it leaked. Well I fixed the leak and install the baffles for the sump.... but now I'm concerned.... What if they ran copper in the tank years ago? Will this cause me problems?
Thanks,

It could, unless you removed all the silicone and replaced it, it could leetch into the sump.

I'd go and buy a new tank instead of worrying about it. In this hobby saving $100 isn't worth it if you risk losing $1000s because of it.

all you need to do is clean the tank well with vinegar.

Yea, Thank you. I've already done a vinegar bath once but I'll do another for good measure =)

let it set with water in it for a week and do a test for copper, if any is still in the tank you should see it in the test.
