gill problems?

while cleaning my tank my yellow head jaw fish started darting arround went to the surface rolled over and went stiff with its mouth wide open. all was normal prior to this event.

all peramerter are optimal. The tank is a long establisherd reef. 70 gal tank, 75 fuge, 3 part sump 30gal each.

cleaning consisted of pulling 4 gal lf calerpa/cheto from the fuge. vaccuming crud from fuge, and a 25 gal water change.

I caught the fish and directed his mouth tward the current from the return pump. this got him "gilling" again he twitched and swam in to the rock work. wich is where he is now.

Any idias?????
