Im not sure if this is a regular snail or not. It doesn't look like one to me. Sorry for the dumb question

Looks like a collonista snail. Good to have.

From the snail-foot view, it looks to be either a small turbinid (Collonista sp. included) or a small trochid. Either way, it's an algae eater, and should be beneficial in your tank.

it is very small. (trying to figure out a size comparison) i guess its about a 1/16"

Sounds like collonista to me. I have literally hundreds of them, along with 100s of rissoid snails. They make a great clean-up crew since they can get into nooks and crannies other, larger critters can't.

I would say collonista and yes they are good to have. Things like snails are always such a pain especially in newer tanks because there are sooo many different varieties out there and of course you want to be sure that the one that you have is a "good one".
