Some of you guys have been following my other post about me rescuing an XXL Queen Trigger. I picked her up yesterday, spent all day on the road, but it was worth it. I'll let the pics speak for themselves, but this fish is magnificent. Truly one of the most beautiful fish I've ever had. I haven't measure for accuracy, but she is between 16-19" for sure. I have her housed alone in a 150g with 100lbs of live sand and some live rock. Just to let you guys know she was in a 55g and could barely turn around. See pics below.

No way on going in the big tank. It would be a buffet for her, all my tangs and angels would be a mere bite for her. She's very aggressive.

I'll get her a bigger tank eventually, but for now she seems much happier.

I know she needs a bigger tank, she will get it soon. For now, she seems to enjoy being able to turn around.

All in due time my friend. She's only been in her new invironment for less than 24 hours. She will have a varied diet of squid, octopus, shrimp, various algaes. I fed her a cube of squid this morning before leaving for work and she nearly swallowed it whole. It is so cool to watch this fish eat.

That is a big fish man, and it isn't full grown! That second shot is the best. I wonder if more of the blue on the body will come out?

Yeah, feeding will be something else. Got a good skimmer?

Yes, her full color isn't showing yet. These pictures are after being introduced to her new tank, she'd been in maybe 10 minutes when I took the pics. She has many more blues and yellows that will come out. She was somewhat stressed in the pics. I'll be putting new lights on tonight that will be a mix of 10K's and actinics. So I'll put up some newer pics after I put on the new lights. Right now I'm running a Fluval FX5 on the tank along with a HOB Coralife skimmer. I'll be implementing a 55g sump/fuge on the tank as soon as I can find a home for my 6 frontosas.

nice! although it is hard to appreciate her size in the pics. My QT is 9" and yours only appears a little bigger.

I was wondering, in captivity, if they grow streamers from their top and bottom fins (like in the wild).

Wow, I never thought her colors would b e so vibrant. That is one awesome fish!! It would be awesome to have a 2000 gallon tank to really watch her swim in.

Was she given to you or did you have to buy her?

I had to buy her, I felt like it was something that needed to be done to get her a bigger home.

You did the right thing.

What size tank are you planning for her in the future?

sorry a little confused here but why is everyone saying he saved the fish from a tiny 55 gallon. if im not mistaken I believe the OP said he was in a much bigger tank and only in the 55 temporarily because the guy tore down the big tank for the move already.

honda, they guy that I got her from told me he use to have a 150 or 180, he wasn't sure what size it was. But I didn't see a bigger tank anywhere when I picked the fish up. I can't say that I believe the guy honestly. She was in a pretty shady setup. But, he had the fish 3 years. I look at it this way, if I didn't take it, she would have ended up either dead or in a pet store in either a smaller tank or a 55, who knows. What matters is that she is going to be taken care of. Heck, the guy told me he fed the trigger raw hamburger meat and raw steak.

Wow, hamburger and a 55, amazing how resilient these fish can be.

Although I did feed my oscar a jolly rancher once.... when I was just a kid of course. :o

Yep, although the guy says he had her 3 years he really didn't seem to know a lot about caring for the fish properly. When he told me what he had been feeding the fish it kind of explained why the water looked the way it did. The water in the tank was so yellow it looked like urine. The sand in the tank looked made the tank look like it had been setup for a long time. I'm not saying the guy didn't have a bigger tank at some time, but I certainly didn't see any signs of it. Oh, and it only had a HOB filter. The fish is starting to color up nicely in the short amount of time that I've had her. Give me a few more days and I will post up some more pics of her.

any news?

Hey Dan, she is still doing great. the blue is showing more blue everyday on her dorsals and around her streamers. I think the fish would eat as long as food hits the water. A bottomless pit. Got the new lights on the tank. I'll do my best to put up some new pics tonight.
