I recentlt bought a biocube 29 and am having a few problems. I currently have the tank cycling with live sand and about 14 pounds of live rock (i will be adding more LR after i get some more money). My problem is that i have a tremendous amount of air bubbles coming of of my return pump. I believe the reason for this is because i have water spilling off the top of the back of the tank and into all three wells. But if i take some water out to level of the amount of water in the tank, then the water level in the third well drops all the way and nothing but air comes out. what might be some solutions to my problem.

I almost had the same problem, all i did was i took out the bio bag slip thing in chamber one and put it on top of the bio balls and put the drip tray on top of that and that helped and i havent had problems with it since then, my tank has been up for only a week now so I am a beginner like yourself

Is something blocking or restricting water flow from the tank to the back chambers? The water shouldn't be flowing over the top of the tank, but rather thru the inlet and into the back chambers.

Nothing is block my flow. I have taken everything apart in the back to make sure of that. water is flowing through but it seems like at not a high enough level

Luke8615 Thank you very much you have saved me hours of stress each day. As soon as i did that it fixed my problem. But the one question i have is is the filter still functional i mean does it still do its job good enough

I got rid of the stock filter completely and put a filter sock full of carbon in chamber one and them a filter pad between the drip tray and bio-balls in chamber two.

Get rid of the bio-balls. They dont hurt your flow but have no place in a reef tank. Search the web and this board and you will see thats the 1st thing to get out of your tank, unless you want a nitrate factory.

also remove the sponge, before the pump

use a fine sponge to filter out the bubbles... that works great
