More than likely it's cyano and not true hair algae. Came up due to disturbing the sand bed. Time, water changes and increase flow to the area.

i had the same problem when i first set up my tank.
i asked around and the reason red algae grows is because of poor water flow to a certain area.
my friend recommended a remover called
Chemiclean -red slime remover-
it is about $22 but it worked wonders for me.
after most of it cleared up i went a bought a powerhead and i haven't had any problems since.
