i just got this little guy from my friend. He had a few people look at this little snail growing on the side and no one was able to ID it. Anyone know what it is and if it's a bad thing or good thing? This is my first Clam and I really hope it does well in it's new home so I don't want to stress it out further trying to remove this thing if I don't need to. U can see in the pics that the snail is releasing a slime that the mantle is pulling back from.

thank you very much. do you think this slime that it's letting out will bother the clam and/or affect it's overall happiness?

im sorry, i didn't notice that was your first post

[welcome]

the slime web it sends out is how it captures its food. it wont harm the clam in any way.

No worries and thanks. I've been referring to posts and reading through forums for sometime now just never posted here. I think maybe I'll change the location of the clam so the current blows that slime web away from the clam instead of directly over his mantle. I had someone else tell me to hit him with a dose of Kalk and be done with him. I'm assuming you think I should leave him be?
