cycling?

I set my tank up a week ago today and I came home and noticed that my room kind of smelled. Does this mean that my tank has began to cycled now? an algae bloom popped up like three days ago and I was told that that happens during the cycling process...

Luke8615 you might want to go to your LFS and ask them to test your water. i know both of the stores i go to are more than happy to test my water for free but i guess it all depends on the store.
