I'll be upgrading to a 75 or 90 gallon tank this winter. I'll need a new skimmer, and I'm willing to spend a lot on it.

I'll have a few fish, and probably SPS corals.

What size skimmer should I get, and who makes the best skimmers out there?

Thanks for the suggestions!

Eric

You should make your own skimmer. You can make it better than anyone else's and exactly to your specifications.

You'll find a wide range of reviews of skimmers. High-end brands include Deltec, H&S, and Bubble King. The Euro-Reef skimmers also get generally good reviews.

bubbleking---- if you plan to spend big $$$$, You sure don't need to spend this kind of money on a small tank like that.

DAS is the best bang for the $$. I use the ex-2 on my 90gal and it cost about $400. Its overkill for my 90gal but i plan to use it on my 240gal.

I've tried 4 different skimmers. The best investment I have ever made was my current Euro-Reef RS180. Look into the Euro-reefs they have custom skimmers modifications available too.

Take a look at something like this (smaller though) but cool:

I only have experience with Euro Reef. I have two CS-1 skimmers that I modded to work outside the sump. One on my 75 and one on my 180. They work great and even better with the Sedra 5000 instead of the Sedra 3500 or Dolphin pump. I am sure there are better though.

Euro Reef makes a great skimmer. I love mine and right from the box it works. No need to do mods, it kicks butt.

I have a euro rs 100 on my 72bow and it is awesome... very easy to adjust the skimmate from wet to dry and it works great right out of the box (little to no breakin period). Highly recommend and if you can save 200 bucks and get a great skimmer than i would... and use the cash on some great lighting or a wavebox ...etc

Look at the rs125 or the next model up...they also make a recirc model if you want to spend the extra flow and ive heard they are great a well.

Good luck and let us know what you get and how it does.
