Just thought that I would share a couple pics of my new rainbow yuma from Ultimatefrags.com.

Rommel is awesome. He hooked me up with this yuma after one that I had previously purchased arrived DOA.

Enjoy!

That is one of the prettiest yumas I have seen! You are right about Rommel. He did the same for me recently when a yuma did not make the trip well. He contacted me as soon as he got a replacement. And I like the replacement better! Good luck with your yuma.

Thanks Cristi. I feel the same way with this yuma that I have now. I can't wait for it to multiply into more yumas. Do you have any pics of your yuma that you got from ultimatefrags.com?

There is a picture of the yuma I got from ultimatefrags.com in the thread I listed below. It is the picture of the second yuma that is a bright pink.

Thanks everyone. I am really liking it more and more each time I see it. I also have a light orange/peachy looking yuma that is not quite as big. I can't wait for both of them to multiply. I have some other yumas that grow like mad men in my tank. I have actually traded and sold many here on RC. Here is a picture of them.

Christi those are some beautiful yumas as well and I agree with what Travis said that the light one may eventually darken to a deeper pink.

If anyone has some Yumas that they care to share please post away. I would like to see them and I am sure others would too.:)

I agree Rommel is a stand up guy and always has the best looking stuff. I am sure you already know, but i would shade a wild caught yuma for at least 2 weeks prior to exposing it to direct light. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck with it, it is very nice.

Thanks The Beaut. I kind of find it ironic when some one suggests we should shade wild caught corals. Our lights are nothing compared to the sun. To be honest I have never shaded any wild caught corals and experienced any adverse affects from it.

Regardless I appreciate the thought/suggestion. I have had the yuma for a month and its doing great. It seems to be liking its new home.

I hope to have frags available in the very near future and I won't be selling for the $170+ this one would have cost if I had bought it.

Put me on the waiting list J4life :D
With our proximity it would probably survive the shipping well, which is always my biggest concern with the pink yumas and ultimately why I have yet to buy one.

Sure thing kiknchikn. I have quite a bit of experience shipping yumas in general now due to the fast growth of my green yumas. Never have lost any due to shipping as a result of packaging, fragging, etc. I have even shipped them USPS 2-Day priority as well in the middle of the hot summer without cool packs and all arrived alive and in very good health. I praise the good Lord for all of that as well.

I think the most important thing with any coral is making sure that it is healthy to begin with before it ever shipped. I am certain that was the unfortunate case of the first yuma I bought from Rommel that didn't make it. Of course Rommel was awesome at replacing it. Probably the best experience I have ever had in purchasing coral online before.:)

Awesome. As long as it's a reasonable price I'm definitely interested so just let me know when the time comes... I've wanted a pink yuma for a long time and that's one of the nicer ones I've seen :D

Plus, chances are I'll buy several different yumas from you if you have them.

Great sounds like you know what you doing. I always thought yumas were harvested from deeper waters. And our 18- 24 inch deep tanks made it a little bright for them. I stand corrected.

Nah I wouldn't say that I know what I am doing. Just blessed to have such good fortune would be more appropriate. As for being harvested from deeper oceans that may very well be true. I will check my book by Eric Borneman to see if mentions the depth of where they're found.

My initial understanding is that most corals that require moderate light are found in an average of 30-40 feet of water although there are some that I think are found around 100 feet but most of the light they would be getting is well with in that blue spectrum well all like to use for supplementation.;) I like the T5 versions of that.

My yuma is in a little less lighted corner of my tank but it still is directly under an overdriven T5 with and SLR from IceCap. I also have 2 - 250 watt 10K XM's of eb's for my primary lighting and the man do they produce some incredible growth.

Thanks for putting me on your waiting list.

Can you tell me how deep your tank is and how high off the water your lights are .

The owner at the shop I frequent says that DE bulbs may be too bright and blast the corals with too much light What are your thoughtsd on lighting for Yumas?

thanks

jim :)

My lights are about 10 inches off the top of the water and I have egg-crate covering the top of my tank. My tank depth is 21 inches however I have placed that orange/peach yuma mid way up directly under my 250 watt, single-end, 10K XM bulb. The best suggestion I can make is to start low and work your way up however I haven't been a good follower of that philosophy myself. I don't know how much brighter DE bulbs are than mine but I am certain they're still not as bright as our sun on an Ocean reef.

Hope that helps some.

Thanks. It is a work in progress. Hope to someday get them into my new 180 gallon Oceanic. I picked up a used one from a local reefer for $250. It has a few minor scratches but I should be able to polish them right out.
