I read once that only Emperor Angels from a certain location gets the streamer on their dorsal with age. Is this true, or do they all get it eventually? If it's true, what location is it?

I believe it's the Red Sea specimens that do not develop the streamer. Adults from the Pacific have the streamer.

What Gary said, the large Indo Pac emps get the streamer and the Indian Ocean and RS emps don't. From all of the fish I have seen I would say the fish is usually quite large before the streamer develops.

Do the Solomon Islands count as the Indo-Pacific?

I ordered one from LiveAquaria last Friday, actually. He arrived on Tuesday. He's doing wonderfully :). Eating nori, sponge (both live and frozen), mysis, spectrum pellets, and just anything else I toss in. I had some clams, but I put them in the fridge and they didn't last as long as I thought they would so I'll have to get some more of those.
I'm really excited. I saved up all summer for this guy, and did $15 art commissions to get the required total. I would have just gotten a job, but I'm not allowed to drive alone for 4.5 more months :o .

it's a good thing you took a pic now- watch how fast that fish grows. What a beauty. Good luck with it!
