Ok i went and bought two maxijet 900 powerheads.. what would be best to place them. both on each sides facing one another? or at the back corners blowing towards the front ?

The best way to find out is to place them in different spots and see what produces the best flow for your tank.

What scotmc said.

Try them if different places, and try them for a day in each place to see how your tank inhabitants take the added flow. You will probably end up with them in the corners with them aimed around 45° in to the front center of the tank.

Ok i think i got it now.. i added a 301 power head in the middle of the tank.. does this seem like it's going to be too much flow in the tank?

2-maxijet 900- (240 gph each)

1 301 powerhead (174)

so all together i'm running 654 gph for a 29 gal. with a bta, cabbage, open greenbrain, 2 toadstools, clam, monti some zoos.

Too much flow? What do your tank inhabitants think? Unless it's blowing them off there mounts, let it go for a day to judge.

Watch your BTA with the power heads if it decides to move!

They never do. Look to see if you can use the hang on hangers. Better yet, use some magnets like Tunzes (old glass cleaners) to hold them on.
