will a coral banded butterfly harm my marbled cat shark? i am starting to get a good amount of aiptasia and was wondering if i could have this fish to do the job of terminating them and also coexisting with the shark? or are they a no no like angels?

CBB's (the C stands for Copper btw, ;) ) are very easy going/passive fish and wouldn't mess with a shark. Even if it did, the long snout has very limited capabilities, where large angels have strong mouths. A good tankmate, though his actual aiptasia eating, will probably be more of a 'miss' then him wiping your tank free of them...

ok, good to know. there has been a couple people on my local msg board that have bought this fish and said that it totally targets the aiptasia and takes em out so i figure why not give it a shot. but didnt want to harm my shark.
thx again

Actually, I would be very careful mixing any butterfly with your shark, as they have been known to pick at sharks. The aptasia may keep him preoccupied, but I would watch them very closely if you try it.

Sure, something like a Heniochus or Golden Butterfly I'd definitely have concerns, but adding a Copper Band to an established shark, I really have my doubts.

ok, thanks for the advice guys, really appreciate it. also my shark likes to stay under a small tight opening in a cave i made for him and i doubt any medium sized fish could get under it to try and bother him while he slumbers during the day.
