I'm trying to catch mine out of the reef with no luck. He's about 3' long. He's always hiding in the rocks with only his head sticking out. I've treid luring out w/ food, PVC pipes w/ food in them etc. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

i take 10# test fishing line and a trout hook without a barb and hook on a gold fish or damsel and throw him in to what ever you are going to put him in and the hook will fall out in reality it is alot less stressfull than possobly being droped out of the tube

well i have heard the fishing trick for fish but never on eels and also i would never use a live fish on the hook, that is just cruel. But what i have mentioned to most people having this problem works like a charm. depending on the length of the eel, put a piece of pvc pipe in (preferably twice his size) and let him exploer in ti. when he is all the way inside the pipe, quickly pull it out of the water and have your net on the other end. so when he tries to slther back into the tank through the opposite end.....PLOP! into the net he goes. HTH!!!!

you won't kill him. but if he swallows the hook then you are screwed. he will stop eating until the hook finally finds it's way out. and of course this isn't a 2000 gallon tank and not a 5ft moray either. just use the pvc trick and it will be all you need.
