When i first placed it in there it looked great for a couple of days but now it looks rough. There is also some white stuff growing at its base. Any ideas. It is in a pretty high flow area.

I just did a 20% water change with a premixed salt water which i have used before with no problems. Tank has been running for approx. 4 months. Also i have chaeto in my AC 70 converted fuge but it doesn't seem to be growing either. Looks grey.

I have recently had an outbreak of cyano, could that affect my xenia. My livestock are:

1 arrow crab
2 small snails
1 damsel

I also have 2 mushrooms and a few button polyps, these are no where near the xenia.

Just realized something from reading another post. I had a small rock of about 6 zoes sitting some 5 or 6" from the xenia. How close it too close for softies? What does a xenia suffering from chemical warfare look like?

I highly doubt it is chemical warfare from the zoas. Although, to be honest, I can't keep xenia alive to save my life. I've tried 2-3 different frags, and they always melt in my tank. Anthelia... that's a different story. But still, zoas don't really attack anything else, especially from 5-6" away. jmo.

reduce the flow a little and get your ph up. Sometimes too much flow will make them close up, especially strong flow to their base.

Mine dont like high flow. I also have some Xenia that has actually spread right on to a rock covered with Zoas. Doesn't hurt the Xenia but the Zoas close up from the Xenia's arms brushing them.

well you can try putting iodine one time my xenia looked like that but now there all big. unless you already put use that in your tank then they could be catching some disease
