Hello!! new to SW hobby and haven't been this excited in a while. I have a 50g african cichlid tank right now with UGJ. been reading alot on SW and seems like no one does UGJ.
UGJ= under gravel jet ... purpose is to have better water flow and blow fish waste and dead spots. (using typically submerge pump and pvc) DIY link http://www.cichlidforum.com/articles/ug_jets.php
I haven't seen anyone talk about this in here. From what i have read im guessing its because you dont really want to stir sand aroudn which can release toxic crap stored in it. But if you do UGJ right it should not disturb the substrate at all. Reason i want to do this is because im getting a redsea max 34 nano and i want to stack the rocks in rear of tank to make it seem bigger... but if i do that from what ive read it will ahve really bad water flow .. and i wanted to use UGJ to blow water from the bottom back...........
not very good at explaining sorry if i confused you.. but if you get my point. please answer!!
