Cleanup Crews

I am in need of some inverts to eat algae and detritus in my tank. There seems to be quite a diversity of snails, hermit crabs and other invertebrates offered for algae and detritus removal. I'm sure this has been the topic of many previous threads, but as the search feature is currently overloaded (why is it always so?), I would love to hear of member regimens for keeping their tanks well-scavenged.

I'd especially love to hear about individual organisms, their strengths and weaknesses as grazers, and suppliers of "cleanup crews."
