so, the situation is: i have live rock curing in my tank. it's been in for 10 days, and i have not used lighting. there are red blotches forming on the rock. any ideas on what this is? is it harmful, and if so how do i get rid of it? sorry camera sucks no pics! the color id a deep red, if that helps.

I'll give it a shot. Maybe cyanobacteria. You could look up some pics of it and compare with what you have. Without pics for us it's hard to say, sorry.

If it's slimey, it's likely cyanobacteria.
