View Full Version : I have seen the wave driver and it is SWEET!

Tim & Justin were kind enough to swing by the store and give a demo of the new wave driver yesterday. This thing is definitely worth the wait! On start-up the LED bar goes through a series of color changes to alert you of any problems. Once it was up and running, the polyps were "dancing" in the current. The surges certainly looked more natural. We got a small 1" wave on the tank with one pump running across a 180. Two pumps would certainly compete with a wavebox.

Will one driver work on two vortechs?

I don't believe so. Each pump requires it's own driver.

Todd,
Thanks for the kind comments! To everyone else- we're planning a demo at Todd's store in about two weeks or so. We'll post more details.
As for pumps and drivers, each pump requires one Wireless Wave Driver.

Congrats Tim for a great product.
Thats exactly what i was thinking before also. Im also very happy to see a U.S. innovated made product finally take off.
Now, if only we could have more U.S. built options that look nice like lighting fixtures, skimmers, etc. All the beautiful stuff has to be imported.

I'm hoping in two weeks or so to have a demo in my home. ;)
I've been meaning to say the same thing - I think the American market is finally wanting better products and RC isn't full of DIY'ers and people who the first thing out of their mouth is, "You paid that much for what?!" (altho there are still far too many) - and its really refreshing to have some quality products made in the USA. Even with lighting I waited forever for the Maristar II but ended up having to buy Euro. Keep doing what you're doing, and maybe develop a sleek pendant next .... :)

Tim, any chance we can get some video of the demo at todd's? I don't think I'll be able to make it.

Main pump is Sequence - Made in the USA (or at least I thought the wet ends were)
Circulation (Vortecs) - Well, we know where they are made
Volcano Skimmer - Definitely made in the USA
Volcano Calc reactor - Ditto to above
Ice Cap E-ballasts (2 @ 400w MH and 1 @ 660)- Made in the USA (Thought I saw a sticker on them the last time I looked)
LA III reflectors - Definitely made in the USA (I bought them directly from the PGS guys shop and saw where they make them)
Metal powder coated stand - Made in the USA by SoCal Creations.
Aquacontroller - Made in the USA (I am pretty sure)
Pinpoint PH meter - Made in the USA
Although our tank was custom from MIG in Canada and our bulbs are Euro.
Now that doesn't really speak to the "beautiful stuff" but it does address the "best", or at least "better" quality products in each category, and some of them are "pretty" to look at (at least to me :)).

I can't wait to get mine! I just got two vortechs installed yesterday and have two more arriving soon. The surface agitation is remarkable compared to the powerheads they replaced.

I've been waiting for EcoTech Marine's MP20 for a long time ... and will order mine from Todd & Veronica (toofishy.com) tomorrow. I'm too impatient to await DHL Ground, so I'll bite the bullet for 2nd-day air to Minnesota (Cornville) for Friday arrival. That'll give me the weekend to tweak & play.
This pump will replace a Tunze 6025 & Koralia-2 on a 36x24x18 (3' 65g w/6"DSB) dominated by LPS, softies, 2 clowns & a yellow coris wrasse. My silent, horizontal "Calfo"-style DIY glass overflow is an internal coast-to-coast drained by three 1.5" heavy-duty strained bulkheads into 20L sump via PVC manifold, & I'll be interested to observe the effects of any wave-action I may be able to generate in short-pulse mode in regards to surface skim, noise & splash. Normally the water just folds over the edge without any surface agitation whatsoever. This oughta be interesting :-)
