I just got a purple firefish he is in the process of acclimating in my qt tank.I read where they are ich resistant. Is this true? If I have an ich problem would it be ok to place him in my display sooner than 6/8 weeks that I plan on leaving my display empty due to my ich problem?

In order to kill ich you will have to leave the display fish less for the 6/8 weeks, i think it would still stay in the tank because it will have a host, than if you add any other fish they would get it.

No, it's not safe for him: he'd be the only target.

They only rarely get ich. It had rather have most other fishes. But not safe yet.

Do watch your lid on your qt: they jump out of the tank when startled. You may use some extra time making sure your main tank is jump-proof.

I had recently loss a atlantic blue tang to ich, my firefish was fine the whole time as were my false percs. Also my tank is not covered and he's been in there for about a month now and has never seemed to jump. He just hovers around the rock in the middle of the tank. Great fish imo.
