My euro-reef skimmer on my 72 bow 2 days ago started going nuts, filling the cup with almost clear skimmate within a couple hours. I did a full-strip-down and cleaning to the unit, and still, even with the tube (for foam level) in the lowest position, I get clear skimmate. As stated in another thread, could the Sedra possibly be failing? It's close to 4 years old. It seems to run fine, though.

I doubt it is a failing pump. Did you make any other changes or additions lately that would affect the water?

have you mounted any frags lately?

No changes, other than a minor salinity increase last week. I keep it about .022, and it had dipped a bit, lots of evap lately, so the dip was probably from salt creep, or a mismeasure on the last water change.

If the Euroreef is like the ASM's, which I believe they are, clean out the volute and venturi and its tube very carefully. I use a long skewer. It sounds like too much water and not enough air entering the pump impeller.

Thanks...I've give it another cleaning, paying special attention to those areas.
