What are you wanting to keep?

On my 75g heres where i'm at:

20g Long sump/refugium using a mag 12 return pump (much higher than typical for this size sump/fuge but works with my setup, click the little red house for pictures) and for lighting I've got a 6 bulb HO T5 teklight fixture, but will be trading this out for 2 x 250w MH retrofits in the future. fwiw, the t5 fixture is ran with 4 bulbs most the time as that seems to do just fine, the other two are used periodically but uncessessarily.

Are you talking about lighting for the 'fuge or lighting for the 75g display tank itself?

As far as the 'fuge - IMHO, the right answer for any size tank is this: As big as you have room for. If you are constrained to setting up something that'll fit in your stand, go as big as you can. If you have a dedicated fish room or the sump is in your basement or something lucky like that, get something BIG! Even if you don't have the whole thing stuffed with macro algae, the additional size will pay off in terms of water quality and stability.

for the fuge

oh, well for the fuge, you can part together enough light with a simple trip to home depot and about $50 bucks or less. I use a dish style clamp on light, and a sprial type flourescent bulb (lights of america?) With a fuge, just make sure you find a bulb thats around 6500k, plus/minus 1,000k, but the closer to this the better the growth will be.

sorry bout any confusion, I thought you meant type of lighting for the display. Maybe i should pay attention better, 3rd time today on RC, geeze.

hey iceman
i have a 125 mixed reef w/ a 50gal display fuge sitting right underneath the main display in the stand... as everyone else is saying the larger the fuge the better... i have seem people on here w/ a 55 gal display tank then 150gal fuge sitting in some other part of their house. you might want to check out melevs site (link is readily avail) for a lot of valuable info on setting up fuges design etc one especially helpful thing avail there is a low cost very effective light bulb that only costs about 20dollars complete w/ the fixture and it works very well! just be sure to read the study he did and to get the specific bulb he recom (5100k bulb)

my wife and i just started to play around w/ our camera so here is a photo

Honestly, lighting for the 'fuge can be whatever you want to use that's reasonable. It will depend strongly on the size/shape of your 'fuge of course.

The overwhelming favorite is probably those spun aluminum cone-shaped clip-on work lights from Home Depot or the like, with a spiral compact fluorescent bulb instead of a standard incandescent. Just get the biggest wattage you can find and you should be OK. You can also use any lower-wattage aquarium hood, compact fluorescent, T5, or VHO would be great.

I couldn't even tell you what format they need to be in, I just got lucky that my camera takes em correctly and once uploaded to my flickr account, they are sized just right.

think i got it now! here it is...
dont know which of my posts went thru but this is a 50gal display fuge... i have a power compact on it for the xenia+ and i actually use the clip on lite in the back of the fuge for the macro... either way the xenia seem to like the lite too they look better then they do in the main display!...

i also have a 36 gal sump/fuge w/ only the chaeto along w/ the recom lites off melevs site (kept on a 24 hour photoperiod)
