I just got a piece from a guy taking his tank down.It is about 3 inches tall with a few little branches.
Where doe I find info on how to care for them?
My tank is a 125 rr
2 175 10k halides
mag 9.5 return pump
2 seio 1100
2 korilas no.2

I paid $30 for it.I think I got a good deal but I want it to thrive.

I know it's not the same thing, but I have a yellow tort that does well about 2/3 the way up with a good amount of variable flow. My bulbs are 10k 250DE's.

general care, temp under 80, alk 9-12 dkh, calcium 400-450 mg 1250-1450, lots of indirect flow and keep it high in the tank (more light)

Deffiitely a lot of random flow, and the blue tort's LOVE THE LIGHT. with only the 175's keep him high in the tank. If you get the reeflux 175 10k the Blues POP!!!:eek1:

I keep mine about 16" under the bulb of a 400w halide, with indirect flow. The PE on this thing in the last couple days has been amazing. Its like a freekin' shag carpet!

Requirements are pretty much like any other acro...High light, High flow.....Here's mine, its ORA grown from frag, its about 9" tall and the camera faded the colors a bit! I keep Calcium at ~410, Magnesium ~1300 and Alk~9.9 dKH, I also keep my Specific Gravity at 1.026.

Heres my Tort, its an ora coral and its under 2 x 175 hammies about a foot off the water, and the tank is lucky to be 10 inches deep.

Kevin, VERY nice! My ORA Blue Tort doesn't display that green! Very nice contrast! Are you going to mount it in your display???

From my experience with the ORA blue tort or the Shawn Bennett the most important thing is to keep your nitrates at zero anything above that nd it will grow very slow also keep your phosphates low. They love the light so the higher you can get it the better and more blue. Hope this helps oh also keep that alk very stable. Here is a older pic of mine it is a little bigger now.... This is a ORA blue...

Thank you, the coral was VERY blue when i got it, it has taken on a more purple color with the green highlights.

This is the display, its just not setup yet. The idea is barebottom with a carpet of zoos, SPS colonys in the high light areas on minimal rock. I have not got it nailed down yet but in the meantime why stop getting corals? Im thinking i want to get a few toadstools in there on either side, tank is a 30 breeder so i have a decent footprint. I have the water level low on the tank with the way my drain is setup, i belive the tank is a foot deep.

This is not the finished product by any means... I had redbugs show up and i slammed this system together fairly fast because i was wanting to get it up anyway and i figured why not set it up and treat the bugs in there while its still new. I have not got around to finishing it.

Thanks for the input.I have had it in 2 spots in the tank. The first place I had it was just above the half way point of my tank and it was very deep blue and buitifull.I moved it to the highest point of my rock work right under my 175w and it looks very light blue.
I am not sure what is the best spot for it.What do you guys think?
Each spot gets about the same amount of flow.
