hey guys, what would be a good skimmer for my 80g predatory fowlr tank. Im looking to spend around 100-150 bucks. im hoping i could get a used skimmer for around that much that would work for my tank, but  wHich one  Also, do the new jebo/odyssea skimmers work? ive heard mix reviews about them, but i thought i would ask you gurus first on what would work for me.

If you want to spend only $100 - $150, just save the money and put it towards salt!
In other words, just do regular water changes.

This skimmer is a great bang for the buck. It would work nice on your tank. Mine is doing the trick for now.

Mine doesnt. I know 4 other people with Super Skimmers that dont have that problem either. A little tinkering with the return tube fixes that problem. PM me if you end up getting one, Ill help you out with it.

i think ill be ordering the css220 soon, will do, thanks!
Many skimmers overflow during a power-out restart. I set mine on eggcrate atop my sump [I use its chamber for a refugium] and have no troubles: it just drips a bit, then restarts itself.
I recommend a skimmer 2x as big as they recommend for your tank: ie, if they say it handles 75g, get the 150. Go used.
I use an Aqua C EV120 on my 54g reef [you over-skim with corals] and it does great.

i decided not to get the css220. my LFS has one and the owner of the shop was telling me why it isnt the best skimmer.
ok, so whats a good skimmer for my tank if i bump up my budget to $200? im trying not to end up with a crappy skimmer...

You're really not going to find a great skimmer for under $200 unless its used. The only thing close and cheap is the CSS. Since the tank isnt a reef tank I see no problems with running a CSS. Just my .02.
I would scroll the used equipment selling forums.

Get on ebay and check it often, eventually you will find something good on there, I did.

This is what Im getting from my CSS. Very smelly and thick. I have to empty the cup every week, week and a half. Its working good. Since I have a reef tank I am going to upgrade. I just need like $350.

Not really, I just put an elbow on to direct the return flow.

Get an Octopus NW150. Works fine out of the box, almost on par with a Euro-Reef (from what I hear) if you mod it.

Just bought a ASM G2 in my initial budget! Its rated upto 200Gal. tanks but i guess it will be a 'BEAST' skimming my 75g + 29 sump. Its sitting intank for now till i make my sump. i will post pics as i get any skimate!
Thx for all the help.
