Hello everyone, I currrently have a 90 gallon display in which I have one EcoTech Marine Vortech Pump which was operating great. I could not put a net in front of the flow because it would get sucked out of my hand. Now I can do so without a problem and I'm getting Hair Algae and Cyano. I have seen one of these things provide flow for a 280 gallon Reef Aquarium and my little 90 display is struggling. Any thoughts?

how old is the pump? have you cleaned/inspected the wet side as per the instruction manual?
Clean off the wet side. I saw a noticable decrease in my flow over time. Visually, I didn't see any clog, but did see algae starting to shrink the size of the intake slots. However, it didn't seem to be anything that would affect flow (like maybe 5-10% blockage).
Nevertheless, I cleaned off all the algae. Whoa. Back to normal flow.

I have notived a considerable amount of algae building up on the wet side so I will remove it and clean it. I'm also going to replumb the aquarium tomorrow.
