ok i just brought home a new octopus coral and all 3 heads are putting out a white stringy stuff, is this normal for this type of coral just put into a tank

Did you acclimate?Alot of corals will produce this sort of substance when they are stressed and I would assume its stressed from shipping and being put into a new environment.The "white stringy stuff" should go away in a few hours(or maybe less)but if it doesn't go away within a day or so thats when you may have a problem.

How are your water parameters?
