View Full Version : 6025, possible problem...

I took off the covers today on both of my 6025's to clean algae growth off of them (the only place it seems to grow in my tank)

one of the two has a bump on the plastic cover right "above" the prop... so if you had the front cover off and were looking at the pump straight on, there is a ~.75" diameter hump where it says Tunze...

have there been any problems with the pump overheating and melting plastic? is my pump the only to have a "problem" like this?

i can take a pic later and post it if i need to... i can even do without the pump for a while if i have to... i just wanna make sure the plastic isnt going to crack and "pull a rio" in my tank...

r00onmac,

I have not heard or seen this problem before so think it is most likely an isolated case. Had you looked at this part of the pump previous it may be a manufacture moulding issue. Is it still operating?

its operating great... i love the tunze pumps and probably will use them on any tank i get from here on out... with that said i am fairly sure (95%) that the hump wasn't there when i got the pump about 3 months ago...

You would need to send it in for closer inspection. Please PM Roger "rvitko" and he will follow up on his return.

I would rather replace it to be on the safe side, please send me the motor.

sounds like a plan... pm an address and necessary instructions to remove the motor from the housing (or do you just want the whole pump?)

ill try and get it out in the next few days...

just an observation...

i love that anyone even bothers posting real problems in here... it ends up being a thread of PM type messages...

how did it look inside the pump?

It really looked OK, it used the correct wattage and no stray voltage was detected by my fault current alarm. I know they pour the resin in layers so that bubbles don't form and I suspect a layer hadn't fully hardened and as it cured it uplifted the top layer. Better safe than sorry though.

sounds good... like i said up top.. .id hate for it to pull a rio and destroy the tank...

thanks again for the great service... hopefully itll be here soon...
