Livestock giveaway question

So I'm one of the many that have been reading the sand sifting starfish threads and learning things I didn't know. Like a lot of others, I was under the impression they ate detritus and were beneficial to the sand bed. Even liveaquaria.com markets them as such. I have a Spotted Mandarin and have made sure he had no competition for pods from other fish, but I didn't know the sand sifter ate pods as well.

I guess what I'm wondering is 1) should I take the starfish out 2) if I do take him out should I give him to my LFS and risk him going to a home with even less suitable living conditions or list him here as a give away to a "big tank home"?

Got mine there too, and fancy tiger striped serpent, as advertised, FTSS seemed to have a appetite for my Cardinals, and went after the brittle sand sifter. When I moved in May got rid of them, now I have Cardinals, and water perams are just as good. Mine went into the trash.
