View Full Version : How to plumb a CO2 reactor?

Hello,

I am in the final stages of plumbing my new 100G freshwater tank and I have a quick question on how to plumb in my CO2 reactor. Is it OK if I keep the powerhead on all of the time to keep water moving through it, while shutting off the CO2 when necessary? Or is it better to shut down both the CO2 and the powerhead at the same time to prevent the 700ml of CO2-rich water in the reactor from entering the system AFTER the controller has shut off the solenoid?

I am asking because I have a 5w UV sterilizer I am thinking of plumbing inline with the reactor and am trying to prevent having to have 2 separate powerheads.

Also, any tips on heating a 100G tank? Do I just use a normal in-tank heater? Do I put it in the sump? Or do I get an inline heater?

Thanks!
