How are the two tusks doing together?

That's a lovely yellow tail coris.

The 2 tusks do great together, thank on the coris.

Yeah, my tanks are not pretty, the rocks have basically no cool stuff on them, but the fish do well and grow. The top pic, I don't know how to keep that tank from having yellow looking water. I have carbon, UV, fuge, and tried different lights without luck. Oh well.

Have you haver tried ozone?

I really donĀ“t like the look of both tanks - you have it all to succeed. Just hide those pumps and pipes and clean up the rocks!

Cheers,

Your fish look great. You may want to add a couple hundred pounds of sand to those tanks though. Getting your calcium levels up may help get some purple coralline algae on your rocks to brighten them up a bit.

I always avoided the sand since I heard it didn't do much besides trap detritus, so it should be kept either 1/4" or 5" as a DSB.

Have not tried ozone, but heard it did some amazing stuff. Need to learn about them still. A guy at the lfs said it got rid of his nitrates completely and knocked the need for water changes to once every few months. BS? Not sure, again, don't know anything about them. But honestly, as long as the fish are healthy and growing, that is all I really care about.

Nice fish.

So your coris wrasse is completely covered when it sleeps? I have much more sand for my small coris wrasse and worried it wasn't enough.

Yep, back left corner behind the anemone. I have to refill the site once every few months, but it is totally under the sand. Crazy. I should film it some time. Sometimes it is clean and quick, sometimes it makes a huge show and gets sand half way across the tank and into the skimmer right there and other equipment.

Lovely looking fish.

How big is the Coris Wrasse? Looks huge! That and the Clown trigger.

Dan even as much as 1" is great. About the yellow water, have you ever had any copper in the tank? What "k" bulbs are you running? 6,500k bulbs give off a red/yellow hue, and seem to sprout unwanted algaes.

Titan, the lights are daylight bulbs in the 2 silver things on the right, the 2 65W PCs are 50/50 10K/420 and a 6500K. I have taken out a bucket of water though and the water still has a yellow tinge to it. I still consider the tank new since it is only about 8 months old and still going through those usual algae cycles. Hopefully by next spring all will be better. Maybe I will increase the sand to an inch. It is easy to take back out if needed. Never had copper in the tank. Perhaps I'll shut down the tiny lights and see what happens.

Thanks Chris for the compliments! Remember how perfect the streamers were on the queen angel? Tonight a piece is missing from the bottom one, not the tip though, just the upper back side. Damn fish. Guess that's where the phrase 'take a picture, it'll last longer' comes from!
