Guys,
those of you which are using Tunze pumps with Multicontroller for your SPS tanks, which mode of Multicontroller ( Pulse, Interval 1, Interval 2, Sequential ) you preffer and why.
What are your settings?
Thanks for info.

i try to flip mine around every few days so i have a constant randomization of the flow.

Pulse is on interval 1 with the interval set at around 4 seconds. I have 1-6100 at each end with 2-6000s in the middle pointing the same direction as the one on the side it pulses with. I have "tried" to create a back and forth action. My son likes to play with the buttons, so I get "extremely" random flow.:(

Anyone use the night mode. I have never tried but am thinking about it.

i do, it just turns off pulse mode. if you have them in tide/sequence mode, they continue to swap/sequence just don't pulse.

I'm running mine on interval # 2 with them changing every 45 seconds.

I'm gonna try that, what makes you guys want to go for the long period? Any reason in particular? I just changed mine for every 2 hours, it's actually kinda hard to tell what the heck you have it at.

As he phrased it to me... and I quote " well the ocean is never constant so him changing it is just like the ocean changing so I really don't mind it" it may not be verbatim but pretty close.

Correction: my settings are Interval 2 @ 6hrs (not 4hrs) with moon light. Per Tunze, these settings simulate tidal effects.

I have it on interval 1 swtching every 30 seconds or so, also with the pulse form 30-100. I recently put it on night mode as well, just keeps it at 30%.

Rodger on the Tunze forum says that Interval 2 is the easiest on the pumps.

Interval 2, 6 hours.

I read an article a while back in advanced aquarist about flow/light and which is needed more and they made a pretty good case for linear, not random, flow for corals. There was a discussion at MACNA last year talking about how it takes a system like our, with rock and coral, 15 minutes or longer with a consistent flow of water for a 'current' to develop. Just randomly blasting water from various corners doesn't allow this 'current' to ever develop. So I went with 6 hours. You get more flow using the same pumps when you can get a current going since turbulence is reduced.

The only thing I don't like about it is that I have a few dead spots depending on which way the flow is going. Things will settle in the corner until the flow changes sides, then get swept up into the water column.

I made the switch for 6 hours, so far I like it.
