The rubber piece that comes between the internal and external parts of the pump has begun to melt in the center. There is a hole in the center of the rubber piece now.
I don't know if the internal part is affecyed by this but it keeps slipping down and starts making a noise. I'll try to slide the inner part up but it just slips down again.
Any suggestions?

Can you be more specific? Is it the wet side foam pad gasket attached to the wet frame or the outer dry side gasket that goes between the glass and motor??

It's the outer piece that goes between the glass and the motor.
Do I have mine running wrong? Has this happened before?

Check your pin spacer for bent pins. If not using a pin spacer due to glass thickness, make sure the motor is centered and the magnet is not rubbing the gasket. Something has to be wrong as there should not be anything that can damage the dry side gasket or even come in contact with it. I have never heard of any problems in that area to date.
Give us a name and address and I can get you a new gasket.

I had this problem for quite some time until Eco-Tech swapped out a washer. The motor end would rub the gasket and slowly deform it, and also created a lot of heat. This is probably an issue that you should get on the phone with them about.
