I have been looking at getting into Acan's and have noticed that the Aussie's are a TON more expensive than the Indi's. I was just wondering if someone could help me understand why an Indi will sell for ~ $70-$100 and an Aussie will be $350+
Thanks
Ben

Also, Would my current lighting (260 wt. PC) be enough for Acans in general? I know they would probably do better with other lighting, but will they still color up and grow nicely with my current lighting?
Thanks
Ben

Your lighting should be enought to sustain Acans, especially if you spot feed... Aussies are more colorfull and have just entered the US market, thats why they're more expensive than their Indo counterparts... Oh, I have noticed that a lot of Aussies don't show near as many colors under PC's as they do under MH's...

Its whats hot now, which is why the price is high... give it a couple of months and something else becomes hot and become the must get... then aussie's go down in price...

the acans only color up very well under intense light. If you want to maintain the crazy colors, get some better light. I am running 150w 20K M/H and they are at the bottom of my tank, and they have lost a little color but still look great

mine are under 400 watt mh (14k) in a 60 cube near the top of the tank. the colours are really intense.

The Australian eporters are charing a higher rate thant he Indo exporters and this is causing you to see higher prices. The Acans I have seem to be able to tollerate a wide variety of conditions.

Not sure where you got the $350. But on average I've seen aussie acan going for $10/polyps. Which is amazing considering that some zoanthids are fetching similar prices. What?
hah hah
To be honest, who knows which acan is japanese and which is aussie nowadays. I just feel sorry for Indonesia since "indo acan" is synonymous with "ugly acan" lol. I think you just need to forget the hype and get what makes you happy.
