On the outside of the 3rd chamber on my BC 29, there is markings for "Maximum" and "Minimum" which I would assume is for the water level in the pump area. My water level is way over the maximum, it's even higher than the glass, and it's been like that since day 1. I followed the instructions when I filled the tank, when the pumps are off you are supposed to fill the tank right to the top of the glass.

Am I missing something here?

The min level is to make sure you have enough water for the pump. The max level is if you are using the supplied bioballs. If you fill over max level the bioballs wont work as intended. However, if you are using your BC29 as a reef aquarium you should remove the bioballs and just fill up water level to top.

I'm still using the bio-balls, but I'm waiting for my skimmer from Sapphire.

If you are going to take them out do it gradually over the course of a week as not to shock your system.

If you already have fish in the tank then I would take out the bioballs gradually. I would also check ammonia levels in the tank. Just to make sure.

If however, tank is new and havent added any stock to tank, I would just remove all the bioballs at ounce.

If you are going to use the skimmer than I think you want the water about an inch above the max mark.

Your skimmer should come with a sheet that tells you where the proper water level is for it to work properly.

you don't want to just fill it up to the top because if you do that, there won't be any space for the bubbles because the whole chanber will be filled up.

Yeah, forgot about that skimmer. You probably will have to adjust water level for best skimming.
