I picked these zoas up over the weekend and they were sold as white zoas. They opened up right away and look fine. At first I read that there was not such thing as white zoas and that they were bleached but then I found zoaid.com had some white zoas called "albino blizzard". Heres a pic (not a great one cause my digital cam sucks) what do you all think? The guy that had them had them under T5 lighting and everything else looked great in the tank. Thanks!

They are under halides now and I'm adding two T5s soon, just waiting on the endcaps. I don't know if they will color up or stay that way. I've never seen a bleached zoa so I don't know if thats what they are. If they are indeed white I haven't seen those before either but I just started getting into zoas and this is my second colony, my other one is an orange color with a little green middle starting to show.

Make sure you get blue plus plus or really blue T5s.. helps make your colors pop.. plus make sure you start them low in the tank to help them acclimate to the new lighting, lessens light shock;

Both of my zoa colonies are on the bottom of the tank now. After the new lightint comes do you think this is still a good spot for them or do they need more light than that?

zoos will tell you wether they are happy or not, faded colors, not opening, reaching, desitegrating etc.....

seems to me that those may be bleached. Saw the albino blizzards and they have almost a greenish hue like glow in the dark material. You will find out in two weeks for sure

I've had them since saturday now and they have not changed color. I will take another pic in 2 weeks to see if there is any difference and I will monitor any growth. I had to take the rock out today for a minute because I found 2 aiptasia on it that I must have missed previously. I killed them with a dab of super glue, we'll see if that works;)

I tried to get a closeup pic of one polyp but alas my camera just bites. Here is the best I could do:

interesting... i had a few white polyps pop up on my rock and thought they were just bleached or didnt have color because they were new or something. when i put them in my sump after a dip i noticed it had that greenish glow in the dark color to them. was just gonna post a thread and ask about this but i see im not alone here

Any update on the white zoas? Still white or do you see some color in them?

Those look like some brown ones I had and gave to a freind. For some reason in her system they bleached out just like these. Have they been like this since u had them???
