I can never get a picture that does this coral justice, perhaps because it is in front of the black overflow. I recently bought a new ballast for my VHO actinics which were out all summer and forgot how beautiful it looks under just Super Actinics.

Cambar, lighting is most likely NOT the reason for browning out. Browning is usually a sign of PO4 and too much nutrients. Check your perams and let us know.

LobsterOfJustice

Mako, are you sure that is an oregon and not ORA? Looks more like ORA to me, and the incredible growth would seem to back that up. My oregon looks slightly "deepwater-ish", like lieshmans. My ORA has been one of the fastest growers in my tank, second only to the green slimer.

makoJ
09/24/2007, 03:24 PM
No I'm sure as I can trace its lineage all the way back to Upscales through who I purchased the colony from.

My colony is under super heavy random flow whcih is why mine is more dense as when I bought it was more like you describe

and I have an ORA tort it doesn't come close to the color of my OBT and looks different.

This was grown from about 1" or so. Its now about 1 3/4 years old. It seemed to not do anything for several months, but then it just took off. I also fragged about a good 1.5" off the main branch, which is why it has several new branches coming out the top of it.

Wow Mako that growth is really impressive. Do you think the heavy flow it gets is the reason for its insane amount of growth?
