View Full Version : What Kind Of Lether? Or coral

Hey everybody i just got this coral fragged, its an amazing piece the green speckles are polyps, and it just is one of the most beautufull corals ive laid my eyes on, however the place that fragged it for me didnt know the name nor did they have any information on the care for it, so im asking everybody if you know what it is, and or what you know about it, lightng etc. i realy appreciate the help thanks everybody

Looks like snake polyps to me. Most are really dull colored but I've seen some cool orange ones. Yours look like they might be cool, too. I'd like to see a shot when they are underwater and open!

Yup- Isaurus polyps (with I. tuberculatus being probably the most common species found in the hobby)
In the same family as Zoanthids and Palythoa.
In a quote from Borneman:
Isaurus are larger, tubular zoanthids found alone or in very small upright colonies with individual polyps attached to each other at the base. Their body wall has large tubercles and the tube-like polyp body is quite distinct. They are normally gray to brown in color and can be found on reef crests or in littoral zones. Their tentacles are quite reduced and their bodies may remain buried in sediments for those found in such locales.

According to Heffner, it could also be penis semierectus viagarus.
