How cold to stay alive

Sorry to threadjack, but I recently had a probelm with my heater. It let my tank to get down to about 66 degrees, did this harm my sand at all.

I suspect many of the animals survived, but it's hard to say. I'd watch for signs of decay, like cyanobacteria blooms.

you might have to go through another cycle...my SW pond got down to the 50s and everything was fine...the Garibaldi loved it actually...i just wouldnt let it happen again...it could cause alot of stress on your tank inhabitants
