I'm looking at getting a chiller for my 40 gallon breeder and 20 gallon sump. I've narrowed it down according to some online shops "recommendations".

I'm looking at a 1/10hp Current USA prime chiller http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~idProduct~CU02635~tab~1.html

or

a 1/10hp JBJ chiller http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~idProduct~JB1111.html

Which one would you guys get and why?

Thanks

I have that exact same chiller and i wouldnt trade it for any other brand or model. its almost completely silent, i have it on my 29 in my bedroom & you cant hear it over the light fans.

I bought a JBJ 1/4 chiller in the spring because my frag tank is in the garage w/ no A/C in GA. It is awesome! Quiet and efficient. Couldn't be happier. Check ou the prices at PA, I thought I saw them on sale. ;)

I have the Prime and like it. I have never heard anyone say anything negative about a JBJ....

My .02 cents FWIW

I think the prime is a excelent brand. I was very pleased on how quiet an efficient they are. I plan on running my 1/10 on my next build & upgrading toa 1/4 if its not powerfull enough.

I have both a jbl 1/10 artic and the new 1/3 hp current prime in line. I think the jbj is of better quality and build and is also easyer to clean the grill from the dust. The current is not as accurate in chilling

sorry hit enter.... so the current is not a accurate in the temp it chills at I'll set it to 79 and it will say 79 on the chiller and it will varry in the tank by 1* eg chiller says 79 tank is 78.1, or chiller say 79 and tank is 79.9. IMO the jbj can be set to 78.5 and will stay with in .5*. I would not buy another current as it is cheeply built and for the simple fact the temp reeding and setting can not be put in 1/10 of a *. Id go JBJ als JBJ customer service sucks, but they have in the past have come through on bad products, eg busted nano, and a chiller that made loud noise.

I just cant in good faith say get the current, I only got it because I got a smoking deal from a rep at a frag swap show. GO JBJ

No complaints at all with my 1/5 JBJ.
Purchased it used on e-bay and it's still running like a champ.
Free shipping and pump to on JBJ's site which may beat the price of the other after shipping.
