I have a Medal Halide pc lighting system. It is time to replace the pc actinics. Can someone explain the benefit of using duel actinic bulbs....420n and 460 n range bulbs over just straight Actinics which coralife says is in the 420 range?

460 more blue in the tank, offsets lower K halides better
420 actinic, makes corals "pop" more

Thanks, so running duel bulbs are a better option

depends on what you want the tank to look like, but I like a combo unless I am just trying to "blue up" metal halides

I like the idea of making the tank a little more blue.....10K medal halides definately give a yellowish hue but then again they are coralife bulbs that came with the unit, I have 3 XM 10K's to put in...I know the Par value will be much better with those bulbs and I'm told they look more white than yellowish so they should help also.

Try out the sunpaq dual actinic 420/460 combo bulbs (96w)....they work great on our 125...

Those are the bulbs that I have coming tommorow...will install and see how they look...hopefully a little more blue than the coralife actinics.
