Well...I recently used GE Silicone 1 Window and Door WHITE for my sump because it was all I could get. I assumed it would be okay, just a different color.

After around a week of running my fuge light the white silicone seems to be turning yellow because of the light exposure.

Should I be worried about this? Just a color change? Should I call GE?

Not sure if I should be worried or not...

I used clear and it also turned yellow. Like near-dehydrated urine yellow. As far as I know it's never caused any problems... just looks weird!

As long as it's 100% silicone you are fine.
There are two types , type one does not contain any antifungal chemicals (probably why it is turning color), and type 2 does. Type 2 is used a lot in bathrooms with a claim to stay white longer.

I've built a lot of sumps with GE type 1 and every single one of them has also turned yellow. It's a sump though and never caused me any discontent. I wouldn't use it on a display.

My silicone has turned yellow also. But i have seen no affects of it in the water paremeters.

Thanks for the input everyone...I have concluded it is not something I should be worried about. Everything is still thriving :)
