I am new to the hobby and wanted to know if Reef Keepers use any type of Bead Filters for there filtration.

I have access to bead filters and uv lights, so this would be an easy way for me to do my filtration. If anyone has recommendations on what type of filtration I should use I would be happy to hear it. I want to build the tank the right way the first time.

I am planning on using a protein skimmer, fluid beds, ozone, 3000 watts MH Lights, anything else I need? Any brands I should and should not consider?

Thank you,
josh

Is that good or bad? I am just going off what someone else told me I needed. Like I said, I am new to salt water and would like to do this right from the start.

look ive been doing this for about 6 years and im NO expert, im just getting my first MH light setup a 150w HQI and some PC actinics on a 40 gallon thats about 6 watts per gallon and i think thats a lot.....i think 3000 watts will be WAY overkill and your tank will be so hot from all of that concentrated MH lighting over it.
