Would adding snails and hermit crabs to my tank cause an excessive amount of micro bubbles to come through the protein skimmer back into the main tank?

Yes and no,but especially if your hand was in the water. They freak at any change from water changes to epoxy ( they really go nuts with epoxy ) and anything in between. In some cases you may want to turn skimmer off 24 hours. To elimanate this i went refugium and placed skimmer in there. It still freaks but micro bubbles in the main tank anr to a minimum. Also less clutter on the viewing tank.GL

Ok then, before i added inverts, i had very few bubbles. Now i have a TON. What would cause this? Nothing else has changed. Except today i did the whole turkey baster in the substrate thing. Would that have done it by stirring up the substrate alot?

Every time I added something (such as live rock) or do any significant water changes, I notice my skimmer spits out plenty of microbubbles. Fortunately, it balances itself out and returns to normal within a couple of hours.

Was your hand or arm in the tank ? Also the turky baster thing should be done right before water changes to help remove some of the debris. But this may also cause the skimmer to react. Also how many snails and crabs did you add?
