sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, my hubbie is the one that knows more about corals :P

our frogspawn hasn't been coming out for the last week and a half. we've done a few water changes, and the only change is a lot of algae growth in our tank.

we also have Acoel flatworms growing, a lot of them, and another member mentioned that may effect corals.

any help appreciated :)

Ammonia- .25
pH- 8.3
Alkalinity- 1.8
NO2- .05
NO3- 7

If your doing water changes and getting more algea growth, then the water your using has a high level of phosphates. Are you using tap water? That may be the problem. Is this a new tank? It looks like from your parameters that the tank has not finished cycling. If that's the case, the tank is not ready for corals.

the tank is about a year old, and we aren't using tap water. we moved the rock set up, and now they look better. thanks for your suggestions.

a tank that is cycled should not contain any ammonia, even a little trace of it its harmful, have you had any fish die?, maybe you something die, and had an ammonia spike, you should take care of that asap.

water quality is a must for keeping frogspawn. I tried one a little while ago, but my water was dirty then, and my branching frogspawn NEVER opened. It died... so i ended up removing it (i shouldn't have) and purchasing a new one a few days ago. It's doing great, no matter where i put it, in medium current, low current, no current. Although it does expand most in less current, it's fine everywhere, and even ate some mysis. I feed mine on snow, and it comes out when i feed more, but it's all based on water and lighting (mostly water). frogspawn like indirect moderate light. What kind of lighting do you have?
