One of my Hydor Flows quit "again" the other day so I took it apart to see what wrong "this" time.
To my suprise there were about 6 small mollusk like thingies in it.
They were brown, a flattened conical shape, about 1/8 inch across and 1/16 high and from above they look like an oval.
The shell is hard and they needed to be gently pried off the plastic.
I can get pic's if req but these are pretty basic looking animals.
So what do you think it is? and are they ok? (obviously not for Hydors)
Cheers
Ian

They are probably Limpets. conical snail like critters relatives of the abalone and snails.

More likely stomatella snails:

They look sorta like some limpets, but are much more common IME. Harmless hitch hikers on live rock, and they make good additions to a cleanup crew - as long as you keep them out of your pumps!

I'd guess limpets as well, stomatella's don't really strike me as "conical"

Ya a limpet sounds about right, it is slightly oval shape when viewed from above.
I wish it was stomatella snails, I had some originally and thought they were pretty cool, I killed them however when I did an interceptor treatment to kill red bugs. Won't ever do that again!
Thanks.

Jeez, I need to read more closely. I missed the part about being conical!

ianward, if they are limpets, nothing to worry about. Got em infesting my refugium at the moment, never both anything and mind their own business. Same with stometella's, both are nice to have around.
