View Full Version : new sps guy needs some advice on feeding

hey everyone so i finally after years and years got some MH lighting. it is the current usa outer orbit system 2 150wat hqi 10k /2 39 wat t5 420 and 2 39 wat t5 460. all my softies are adjusting fine and i bought a acopora frag the other day. the guy in the store gave me rotifers for feeding, which i have read is fine i have been using half a cube every other day. my questin is what else should i be feeding the tank normaly i put in just a cap full of DT's phytoplankton about twice a week. also is every other day ok with the rotifers. thanks for the help

sps coral feed exclusively on zooplankton.they receive most of their energy from photosynthesis so supplemental feeding isnt proven to be neccessary although surely it is naturaly healthy.feed as much or as little as you want as long as it doesnt affect water quality.

less is better, keep in mind that these are low nutrient corals usually

all I do is feed my fish missis shrimp and a frozon food called Rods food daily.

Don't feed them. You have decent lighting. Keep your tank parameters up and they will filter the water column.
