Hi everyone,

What would be the best way to remove silicone that is on the inside of the front wall of my glass tank? I just bought a new tank and discovered what I first thought was a minor scratch. However, it may be a thin thread of silicone. I unsuccessfully tried cleaning it off with a wet paper towel. What should I use to remove this if it is in fact silicone without causing damage to the glass? Should a razor do? Thanks!

Gary

Use a razor blade carefully. Silicone bonds with glass so well it may take a bit of patience to get it all.

Thanks. Using a razor on glass does make me a bit nervous. Should I cut up, down or across with the razor?

Yes :)

Whatever it takes, and it will probably take all possible angles. I would hold it at an angle to the glass and scrape, I wouldn't do a slicing motion.

Razor blade. No reason to be worried. Use it a 45 angle to the glass.
