I have a 50 (I was told it's a 55 but I'm going to say 50 to be safe) I am going to turn into a FOWLR tank. Since I am getting a 100 gallon at the beginning of the year that I am making into a reef mixed tank, I am wanting non reef or aggressive fish in my 50. My hubby is wanting a puffer, is there a puffer that stays small enough for a 50? If so what can I mix with it? If not what would you reccommend starting out with?

There are some puffers that stay small enough for a tank that size. Most do not have the same look as your a typical puffers (dogface, porcupine) however they do have similar personalitys and are very beautiful in their own right. Look into some of the smaller puffers such as the saddleback, valentini, or my personal favorite the fiji puffer. The fiji has neon blue spots and bright blue eyes. They generally get about 5 and a half inches can hold their own with some of the more agressive fish such as angles, tangs, and mild mannered triggers.
