Euro Reef Riser tube

My Euro Reef riser tube sits too low and I cannot get the tube inside the tube to move all the way up. When I first got the skimmer I could swear I could take the tube out all the way. I have been meaning to tweek the skimmer and havent gotten around to it, now that I made time I cannot get the riser tube to go further out of the bigger Diameter tube. I hope this all makes sense I need some suggestions.

Have you tried pulling the inside tube all of the way out and re-lubing it with the silicon grease? Mine was a bit difficult to pull up a while ago until I reapplied the grease.

I finally got it out. Luckily I found a leg of a chair that would allow me to hammer down the inside tube. I cannot believe how hard it was to get out, even when I got that to work.
