MH lights for $10@

I found these on ebay 2-175w mh 14K bulbs for $19.99. The seller is a company called cbconcept http://www.cbconcept.com/buyMH.htm.
Has anyone ever bought from them? If so how was the quality of the bulbs?

I wouldn't mess with them. If they are cheap, usually but not always, they probably suck.

Sounds too good to be true. I figured maybe someone tried them by now.

There really is no reason our bulbs should cost nearly a hundred dollars each if you can find the right K rating I'd try it.

Randy there are several problems... but there is a reason that the bulbs cost $40-$80 each.

A simple stroll over to Dr. Sanjay Joshi's website will help you to understand that all lightbulbs and reflectors are not equal.

That stuff on eBay is outright garbage and will produce far less usable light than the quality components that are made and sold by some companies.

Reflectors are as important as the bulbs. The shape of a reflector dictates how much of the produced light is directed into the tank.

Worse yet, most of that knock of junk has "labels" that can not be trusted or verified. It can say any "K" rating on the box, that does not mean that the bulb is actually that color.

There is 10%-20% variance in output among the BEST bulbs. Bulbs lower on the food chain can easily be 40%-60% less efficient. Toss those in a reflector that is 50% less efficient and your spending a lot of money producing very little usable output.

Dude take it from me, I bought the cheap Bulbs of ebay and after 1 month the bulbs completely lost their color... They were a nice white bulb and then they went completely yellow... I burned them in for two weeks at 10 hours a day, So i probably got two weeks of usable light... Not worth it switched over to hamilton 175 14K and am amazed at the coral growth...
